*Councilmember Vincent C. Gray’s Statement on Today’s MCO Contract Votes*
Washington, D.C. – Today, the office of Ward 7 Councilmember Vincent C.
Gray, Chair of the D.C. Council Committee on Health, issued the following
statement from Councilmember Gray on the upcoming MCO contract votes:
“I am encouraging my Council colleagues to vote ‘No’ on the MCO declaration
resolutions so that we ensure District residents are presented the best
health care options through a transparent and error-free procurement
process,” said Gray.
“While I intend to participate in today’s vote, my schedule may not permit
my attendance. However, if absent, I will in effect be voting ‘No’ on the
MCO declaration resolutions, because nine ‘Yes’ votes are required to move
this measure forward.”
Councilmember Gray is currently undergoing physical therapy evaluation
following a recent surgery to repair his torn Achilles tendon. His medical
appointment schedule today is not flexible. The precise timing of the vote
during today’s Legislative Session is, on the other hand, indeterminate.
