Subject: Tonight, You & Your Neighbors are Invited! Guide DC on the Path to
Zero Waste

Dear Ward 7 Advisory Neighborhood Commissioner,

The Department of Public Works (DPW) Office of Waste Diversion is developing
the Zero Waste DC Plan in pursuit of Mayor Muriel Bowser's Zero Waste goal of
diverting 80% of the District of Columbia's waste away from landfills and
incineration. The Zero Waste DC Plan will identify and prioritize the specific
actions, targets, and goals required for the District to achieve Zero Waste.
Creating a Zero Waste DC Plan is mandated by the Sustainable Solid Waste
Management Amendment Act of 2014.

DPW is seeking the public's input to guide the District toward our Zero Waste
future, and we're asking for your help to spread the word.

In August, DPW hosted ten (10) virtual community engagement events to hear
residents' and businesses' concerns, ideas, and visions for the Zero Waste
future. Throughout September, we heard from community members during a 45-day
public comment period on the Zero Waste DC Plan's first draft framework.

This October, we're still listening! DPW invites Ward 7 residents to join us
virtually tonight, October 25 to help us dive deeper into the community
priorities around Zero Waste.
