Hope everyone is well! Below is the available produce to give away, volunteer
opportunities, and requests this week at both DPR communal farms.

  Available Produce This Week

Edgewood Rooftop Farm

  *   Crops ready

     *   Cool weather - Collards, kale, chard
     *   Warm weather - Tomatoes, eggplant, peppers, summer squash, basil,
cucumbers, basil, string beans, perennial herbs, cut flowers

  *   Weekly produce giveaways every Tuesday 11-12pm

     *   Can self-harvest during open hours (Tuesday/Thursdays 10-1pm)

Pesto Workshop this Week!!!
During Edgewood Veggie Giveaway (11-12pm)
Our basil is out of control at the Edgewood Rooftop farm!!!  Join us to learn
how to make pesto then take home bags of basil to make your own pesto.

Lederer Gardens

  *   Crops ready –

     *   Cool weather - collards, kale, chard
     *   Warm weather - Tomatoes, eggplant, peppers, cucumbers, okra, squash,
string beans, perennial herbs, cut flowers

  *   Weekly produce giveaways every Wednesday 11-12pm

     *   Can self-harvest during open hours (Monday/Wednesday 9-1pm)

Lederer Gardens Evening/Weekend Hours
Sunday 7-9am
Thursdays 7-8:30pm
Michele has offered to host evening and weekend open hours at Lederer Gardens.

you plan on coming out and to receive any last second updates.

Tuesday - Edgewood - 10-2pm

  *   Harvesting for the 11-12pm weekly produce giveaway

     *   Pesto workshop!!!

  *   Garden maintenance (weeding, watering, thinning, bug squishing, pruning,
etc.)

Wednesday - Lederer - 9-1pm  (starting early to beat heat and prepare for
veggie giveaway)

  *   Harvesting for the 11-12pm weekly produce giveaway
  *   Working on tomato trellises
  *   Garden maintenance (weeding, watering, thinning, bug squishing, pruning,
fertilizing, etc.)

Thursday – Edgewood and Lederer combined day – 10-2pm

  *   Edgewood

     *   If you want to work at Edgewood on Thursday email me and we’ll send
you the gate code with a list of farm tasks
     *   Garden maintenance (weeding, watering, thinning, bug squishing,
pruning, fertilizing, etc.)

  *   Lederer

     *   We’ll be at Lederer Gardens trying to get ready for our Fall plantings
     *   Creating a planting jig to burn planting holes in our woven weed fabric
     *   Begin hardening off cool weather crops
     *   Garden maintenance (weeding, watering, thinning, bug squishing,
pruning, fertilizing, etc.)

Weekly Request for Help

Need Help at Lederer Gardens Open Hours
We could use more help setting up the Wednesday veggie giveaways and prepping
our Fall gardens on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays 9-11am and/or Sundays 7-9am
and Thursdays 7-8:30pm

Street parking on Nannie Helen Burroughs next to farm

Edgewood rooftop farm
Ward 5 - 300 Evarts St NE
street parking along Evarts st (South side) and Franklin st NE (North Side)
Find stairs inside park that lead to farm.  Don’t need to go inside Rec center.

What to bring?

Please bring your own water, garden gloves if you have them, sun protection if
needed, and a mask.
