As for whether it's parametric or graphic, those EQ types operate differently. Having bands set to default values somewhere in their range has nothing to do with what kind of EQ it is.
A graphic EQ has bands that are all a fixed width, usually an octave, 2/3 octave, 1/3 octave etc. Parametric EQ's are much more powerful because you can adjust both the center frequency and the width of each band, along with the cut or boost you want.
