And if you have a contract from the people you're doing the work for, there's always "Small Claims Court" in FL anything less than 41,800. Gee that sounds like an awful lot of money these days! (grin)

Cameron, My experience is that the landlord/tenant law varies from state to state. You might want to consult an attorney. The cost might be prohibitive. It wouldn't to call around and ask. Some attorneys do give free advice sometines. Good luck. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Cameron" <cameron@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>

Cameron,

Being once a landlord, and if you're on a month-to-month rent contract,
you've got no pull.

If you're set up for a lease then wait until your landlord wants you to
renew the lease and see if you can negotiate then.

Dave

Hi. Yes, I am. It took them a week to fix the problem but now everything
is fine, with the electricity at least.

I am currently working for a video production company writing and recording music for them. My contract states that I can work fourty hours a week max, with no overtime and no week to week substitution of hours. As a result of
this electrical issue, I wasn't able to work for a week, so I lost four
hundred dollars in income, which I can't make up. I went to the complex
manager's office today and paid my rent. I also asked if they would take
two hundred dollars off October's rent. That would be half the income I
lost due to the electrical problems. I got blown off basically. I don't
want to push this as I don't want to get on the wrong side of my land lord, however, I think my request was reasonable and I was willing to compromise.
They aren't willing to do jack to make up for this.

Any suggestions? or am I S O L?

Thanks,

Cameron.
