Hi Greg.

Glad you liked them.

I used Trilogy, Atmosphere, Stylus, some loop master drum loops and Refx
Vangard.

Cheers
Darren

Daren that's some cool stuff there.
I like the way that thing in b flat just keeps building. Least I think it was
in b flat. Not the one with the vocal although that one was good too.
Now what soft synths did you use besides stylus?

Speaking of young Darren, might we hear a sample of what you do with
stylus that drum machine from spectrasonics?

lol, I love the compliment of being classed as young.

But I'm in my 40s, so know what the older mixes sound like.

I too don't like mushy mixes.

        Cheers

No, it's just how we grew up hearing things mixed. You and I grew up
with lead instruments truly out front as if at a concert. Younger listeners
are used to the mushy big glob in your face mixes of today where it might as
well be mono unless something pans for effect.

          Nick

Thanks all I thought about turning them down abit but I'm not sure.
I am a guitar player and tend to like em out front maybe a bit to much.
I used trilogy for the bass, true piano wide for the piano, 1
instance of omnisphere to do the melody an octive up,
could have used real guitar but I like the sound. I also used
omnisphere for the stuff in the intro and a bit through out the song. A patch
called city slumbers, one called Across the sky, and finally one called gently
crushing eternity.
For the drums, I used smart loops mediam straight rock this time.
I also like drums on demand a lot.
But the smart loops seem to fit this one.

I know what you're talking about with regards to the panned
guitars. I think, though, that if he turned them down a bit they would blend in
just fine.

It kind of reminded me of Jo Satriani if he was trying to do
country.

                Nice guitar harmonies.

Wanna give us a run down of hwo you put it together? Which
soft synthes, plugins etc.

The only think I wasn't sure about was the separation of the
guitars, it kind of made them too separate from the mix, as if they'd been
added on later.

                cheers
                Darren

out.
