After doing a bit of research and emailing the assistive tech specialists at a few organizations, I have gathered that Sonar 8.5 with Cake Talking is the most accessible application for music production, as opposed to Protools. If any of you have had positive experiences using Protools, please let me know how it worked for you, otherwise it seems to be in my best interest to purchase Sonar. So with that in mind, could anyone recommend which brand/s of PC’s are most capable of handling large music files and production applications with industrial level efficiency? I currently have an Asus laptop running windows 7 and JAWS 14 and it freezes up all the time. I do not think it will handle multi tasking with music files very affectively, so I’m hoping someone on the list could recommend a brand of PC built specifically for audio production? Also, which multi track recording devices and microphones are the most accessible? I have encountered many digital recorders that are inaccessible for use independently or microphones that plug in to the PC and are not compatible with JAWS. So I would love to hear your suggestions. Lastly, what midi keyboard would you recommend? I’m just getting started so if any of you have additional suggestions or advice I will be more than happy to learn from you all. Bill, I am in 100 percent agreement with you on this. Before I got in to sonar and CT, I knew absolutely nothing and I mean nothing about recording. The tutorials were not only useful in learning CT, but they were also very useful in recording 101. Now I know how to record myself and even do some mixing. I may not know as much as many of you guys on this list but at least I know more than I did before CT and for that I'm very very grateful. No complaints here.
