Hmm, was discussing this with a sighted user of Sonar the other day and they weren't a fan of this at all. On the other hand, a lot of the sighted community do like it.

This feature makes comping astonishingly easy for the sighted user, but itsmetaphor doesn't really translate to non-mouse use. Best wishes. As with many features in Sonar, there are many ways to skin the same cat. Layering is mainly used to save multiple takes of a performance on the same track. Byselecting a portion of a given layer, it is possible to use that portion ofone performance, then select from another layer and use that passage. By muting and unmuting specific layers, it is possible to create a composittetake excerpted from multiple peformances. As Phil said, it's really easierto save multiple performances on cloned tracks, then copy and paste to a compositte track. Yes, some prospective customers might cry for that feature just because their friends are doing it that way, but we've beenusing the event list instead of the piano roll for years, it's that sort ofcomparison.
