OK, David, then you might consider the Roland Studio-Capture which has 16
inputs, 12 mic pre's, and a bunch of other nice features. Dancing Dots matches
price from Sweetwater as well as free shipping.

Learn all about the Studio-Capture at:

Hi Bill,

Thanks so much for your message. Unfortunately my Thinkpad doesn't have
firewire! It's one of those Ultrabooks which I have customised to have 16GB ram
and it has I7 Duo core.

Hi,

If your PC can run the Texas Instruments flavor of Firewire, consider the
Mackie 820i. It is both a sound mixer and a multi-channel audio interface.
Details at:
http://www.dancingdots.com/prodesc/soundcards.htm

Use the following to check to see if you have Texas Instruments (T I) flavor of
firewire on your PC.

• Go to control panel, system, device manager

• arrow down then, you should find a section called "IEEE 1394 Bus host
controllers."

• * Once in that section, press the down arrow key. If Jaws says the
following:
• "Texas Instruments OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 Host Controller"
• then, you have the right firewire card with the correct chip set.

Be sure to also disabled your 1394 network connection before recording audio
with SONAR.

Subject: [ddots-l] Soundcard recommendations for portable audio work station
anyone?
Importance: High

Hey there,

I'm setting up my own audio work station on my Lenovo Thinkpad and presently am
running Sonar 8.5 with the CakeTalking scripts with Jaws16 on Windows7 Pro
64Bit! I am after recommendations for a high-end soundcard which is reasonably
speech friendly software wise and will allow me to record each instrument to
its own file at the same time! E.G. I'm recording my band and we have guitar,
keys, base, vocals. When we are jamming away, I'd like each instrument to be
recorded to its own file! Is that possible to do in Sonar and if so, which
sound card should I purchase to allow me to do this?

Thanks for any help with the above!
