Hi Shawn! I am a VS100 user and are running it as a soundcard and control surface for producer 805 It is preforming well when recording audiotracks compared to level. It is sounding digital and clean. As i do not have other cards to compare with, i can not inform you if it sounds warmer than others. Today if i should start all over, i would have chosen a different solution as the VS100 does not work as well together with producer on the bottoms as i have hoped. It is not accessable as a digital recorder as a stand alone recorder even that it is build as one. So for me as blind my next set up will be comming as a complete pack from Dancing dotts. Personally i have been a fan of roland sound since the early jupiter days. Now there are also in tune. I have not have any experience with this particular unit, but before I got my ProjectMix and Sonar, I used to record with a Roland VS2400CD which is a stand alone digital recorder. Now, as I listen to my old recordings made with the roland, it seems that they have a somewhat warmer quality to them as compared to the ProjectMix. Now based on my very limited experience, I would think that the VS700 will have good quality pre's. I think a couple of people on this list are working with the VS100 unit. They might be able to give you a better idea of the quality of these interfaces. -------------------------------------------------- From: "Shawn Brock" <shawn@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Friday, September 03, 2010 7:20 PM To: <ddots-l@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Subject: [ddots-l] Cakewalk VS-700C V-Studio controler > List, > > I just got a call from someone here in town to do some tracking. > > The guy is another Sonar man... > > One of his recommendations was, for me to bring any mics that I like > to use, just in case what he has is not the best choice.
