OK, not sure how much into orchestral you are looking for, but perhaps Kontakt
by Native instruments might be worth a second look? Third party producers (such
as East West, CineSamples, Stressov Sampling, AudioBro, and even Native
Instruments themselves) have made some of the best orchestral libraries on the
kontakt engine, and there are also good guitar libraries (again depending on
your needs) from the likes of orange tree samples, promony, vir2 instruments
and others. For pads and atmospheric type of sounds, Omnisphere is a good
choice, and many synth-like sounds, thought they have some good usable choirs,
and basic orchestral stuff. Some of the Kontakt library producers I mentioned
also have made some of the top libraries for Choirs, with plenty of
articulations and even phrase builders. Of course using some of this stuff
requires a bit of work and sometimes sighted help, so it's a tradeoff between
functionality and quality.

Hi DJX:
Thanks for the response. I tend to write mostly in adult contemporary and
country with a bit of modern P/W thrown in. I'd much prefer high quality rather
than quantity to save my having to do a bunch of stuff in post. I liked the
quality of the Omnisphere sounds, so things like high quality choirs,
orchestrals and pads are primarily what I'm looking for. Also high quality
guitars (Regardless of amp modeling). In my home studio, my Yamaha Motif XS and
Korg Triton hardware synths do most of my grunt work. I hope this answer is not
too vague.
Thanks, in advance, for any thoughts or ideas that you might have.
Jeff

Hi Jef, what genre in particular? Also, what quality level are you looking for?
Nowadays the way things go is usually get a good software synth or sampler that
can do one particular thing or set of sounds at a high quality standard (such
as ample guitars for guitar, sample modeling stuff for horns, etc.).
Some synths can have allot of patches, but sometimes they lack the quality.
However, if you limit it to a certain genre, then specific software synths will
work out, such as Omnisphere.

Subject: [ddots-l] Looking for presets and instruments
Hello:
With all the discussion about Complete and its edit ability, can someone
recommend a Plug-in for Sonar that gives a large number of accessible patches.
I am primarily a song writer and studio session player and don't really have an
interest in "Tweaking" sounds or inventing new ones. I am more interested in
being able to access as many patches/instruments accessibly as possible. The
three big players seem to be NI Complete, Arturia V Collection and
Spectrasonics Omnisphere. So far, I am most drawn to Omnisphere because of its
wide variety of immersive pads but wanted to get some experienced opinions
prior to shelling out a bunch of money on a plug-in I can't use. All help and
thoughts are greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Jeff
