Hey that's a good track count for a laptop. But you're right, a dedicated
daw would work better for that kind of work. May I ask what you're
composing, i mean genre or type of music?

32 tracks; 12 soft synts plus a bunge of plugins.
 I really need to get a "beast"!

Yes, you must unfreez all tracks.  Remember that when you freez a soft synth
track, you are left with the bounced audio.  That audio will not change its
tempo.
