Oh hi there, Stacy
I do not clearly understand your story. But are you talking of making a video
with one of your DAW that suddenly stopped working the way it should, due ot
its age?
Thank you.

Yes, Bill is the best and so understanding. My first writing on that post I
deleted because it went from me being 6 years old through my genre changes
throughout my 58 years of being here. Then I remembered, and I’ll always refer
to the “old days”, that most posts were from users in need or people offering
help and probably didn’t want the clutter of nonrelating posts. But Jay is
right; Bill probably won’t mind us doing a little sharing as long as we link it
to music, Sonar, or recording. By the way, I wouldn’t have seen Jay’s post if
it hadn’t been attached to John’s. In other words, I might not be seeing
everybody’s posts for some reason. Could it be Jay just did a “reply” to
John’s and not replied to all? .
And to keep this post Sonar related, I want to share with you guys a story that
drove me crazy and see if you had ever heard of it. A long time ago, my DAW
all of a sudden had this Video Intercept Dialog error message from Freedom
Scientific. My screen eventually went black but JAWS still worked, but it then
was trying to get me to change my resolution. I’m so sure that if I search
through the archives, I’ll lfind my posts about this issue. I evidently had a
short in my video cable because this happened when my sighted friend was
plugging up a serial mouse and must have bent the cable. It was the next boot
up that the message appeared. Of course I’m going to blame someone else!
Smile. I talked to FS who basically said that it could be really really bad
and maybe too difficult to fix since the DAW was not online. Well, somehow,
the problem fixed itself, and I went on ahead for a few more years. Then the
Video Intercept Dialog came up again. Again I posted but I don’t recall
anybody knowing anything about it. One has to understand that I am probably
the only blind Sonar/JAWS user in my state. Even friends who were PC gurus
could not work on it because they didn’t understand the configurations of the
software; plus I didn’t want anybody touching my DAW. I took the DAW to work
and asked a girl in our AT Division to take a look. She brought it back that
afternoon and said it booted up just fine. I took it home and sure enough, all
was well. What was going on? So I got a new used monitor and continued my
recording. Then about two or three years ago, I had been working for my boss
by converting some of her audio CD’s to MP3 and saving to a flashdrive. I then
also started deleting unwanted files and saw the familiar “if you delete this
file you may damage your system” message that sometimes appears with the Album
Art on a downloaded song. My next boot up perhaps a month later brought back
the Video Intercept Dialog error message. Rebooting and swapping monitors
didn’t help this time. I then played around with restoring and things I had no
business doing until the DAW’s Tascam FW 1884 input/output dialog was different
with no choices to make changes. I videoed the screenand the latency of the
track pane cursor and sent it to a guru friend. He said the screen was so
grainy that he couldn’t see anything clearly and he said he thought I needed a
new video card. But finding an XP video card must not be possible these days
because he brought the DAW back. FS said it was too old for them to support
and JAWS 9 wouldn’t remote tandem anyway. Yes, I said JAWS 9. I called the
company who built the DAW back in 2006, and nobody could assist due to its age.
The DAW is now sitting on the floor right here beside me with tons of my music
on its hard drive that I will eventually see if I can get off of there.
My band friends were pushing Apple Logic on me but I am just now learning Mac,
so that’s a nightmare in itself. I talked to Bill who was very understanding
and compassionate and explained the whole event of the ending of Cakewalk and
how this also affected Caketalking. Bill is a major part of this new DAW I am
getting, so I thank him for his referrals. He is indeed a great guy and I hope
DD continues to provide AT and other software/hardware to the blind and VI
musicians out there.
So, after writing all of that, have any of you ever heard of this Video
Intercept Dialog error message from FS? I am just curious because I feel I am
the only one who has had this problem.

Good, I’m glad you brought up Bill’s good nature (which I can attest to…)
However, I didn’t know this list prohibits some off topic, (but at least
related to music) stuff.
Otherwise, boy is he going to hate my last post on the Atlanta Festival… 😊

If you guys have ever talked to Bill on the phone, you know he is a great guy,
and I doubt that especially in these days and times, with all that is going on,
he likely doesn’t mind if we talk about happier things like the Dooby Brothers
or Chicago, or anything we have in common concerning music.
For me, I would love to hear about projects folks are working on, and in the
course of all these things, encouragement is never a bad thing for individuals,
or this list.
Thanks,
Jay Pilkington

I know this list is not for socializing, but I am going to write this one post.
Jack Conti, I do remember your name as well, as I also remember Chris Smart.
Some of the other big boys I recall are, and I’m not going to spell these write
I’m sure, Phil Muir, DJX, Brian Smart, Kevin Gibbs, Jeff Carlisle, Omer, etc.
I use to enjoy reading about their thoughts and quick fixes for those of us who
were fumbling around with Sonar and accessibility. In regards to the Doobies,
I saw them 2 years ago at an old “hall” here in Jackson, MS—I think 3 of them
were from the original group. In that hall they sounded awesome and sounded
just like their old vinyls. Even though my current genre is country and
classic rock, I went to see KISS in Birmingham last year. Oh my gosh! Gene
and Paul still have it, even though I have heard that some tracks were being
played during the tour. I am writing this to tell you that I videoed with my
iPhone many many songs that turned out reasonably well, considering I can’t see
a thing. Paul zip lined from way up and landed on a platform not far from me.
My wife had to guide my phone to where he was. I didn’t know what she was
doing. It wasn’t until after the concert that I learned what had happened
during the show. But being blind didn’t hinder me from visualizing from what I
heard and what I was told, thus recreating the concert’s special effects and
events. That night put a new spark in me to continue my music—performing and
recording. If Paul and Gene can do it at their ages, then so can I. So my
band is back decently strong, and I will be recording demos of us in the future.
Thanks, guys, for listening. I am here at home for a while, not sick, but just
distancing. We all may be sharing things to one another to pass away the time.
Like I said, this list is not for that purpose, but I just wanted to share why
I have returned. Thanks again, S.
