Phil's write, at that writing, CT only supported 32 bit applications. Keep
in mind that CT is going to be behind, and that's why no one can work with
SonarX1 at this time. However, Dancing Dots is shipping SonarX1 while the
scripts are being developed.

Wiley here on this topic: I just downloaded the CT documentation and
Confused a bit; The CT documentation named 1SettingsWindows7.rtf says in
section 1.1. Note that when you install SONAR, you must install SONAR in its
32 bit version. This is also reflected in CT document named How To Install
Sonar.rtf where #1. says, "At this time, CakeTalking can install into
SONAR'S 32 bit version, but it can not install if you have SONAR'S 64 bit
version. So, if you have 64 bit Windows, like Vista 64 bit, you must install
SONAR as a 32 bit program.

I "thought" I saw on other posts that with 64 bit Windows 7, the latest
versions of Sonar and CT do work if Sonar 64 bit is installed?

Hi Jay.

We show that you have CakeTalking 8.5. Some of what you wrote in your
message might be a type-o, so check the following to be sure.

First, you wrote that you're using Sonar 8.52, but you need Sonar 8.53. The
8.53 patch is free from Cakewalk. It is absolutely required for CakeTalking
8.5, though.

I've seen that specific error that you quoted when some people try to
install CakeTalking from the Dancing Dots DVD. Not sure why it happens. That
isn't a problem, as you can always download and run the newest version of
the installer from the web.

http://www.dancingdots.com/ct/8.5sj/

If that still doesn't help, please send me a message directly by using the
support@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx address, or call the Dancing Dots main number, and
I'll help you get going with 8.5.

Bryan

Subject: [ddots-l] File Error when installing caketalking in windows7?
Hi all
I am having a problem installing caketalking 8 with sonar 8.5.2 under win 7
64 bit.  As it's installing, the following message comes up

Error
The file Triple A layout.cakewalkWindowLayout could not be opened. Please
check that your disk is not full and that you have access to the destination
directory. Access is denied.

I also tried running the setup as administrator. I am installing it from the
dancing dots product disk.
Thanks for any help
Jay
