In Cakewalk and Sonar, .CWP files with MIDI are saved as MIDI Format 1
by default. So, assuming that you have instrument definitions for the
same instruments on both machines and they are assigned to the same
ports and channels on both machines, you should be fine.

Thanks, Ernest. I actually have a switch, so I can still run my old
computer. I may have to use it for CakeWalk for a hwile. If I do that,
is
there a way to save in Midi format 1, so that the my selected sounds
won't
get accidentally converted to general midi if I play a file I've worked
on
on the new computer? I do some tweaking of midi files for my students,
among other things. I teach voice, and I'm too goodhearted to subject
people to my playing...
