Hi Dave, the CMOS battery should only cost you a few bucks, and someone who can
identify where it is can change it in no time; just get yourself a CR2032 and
have somebody replace it for you.
Thanks for the kind words.

DJX,
I have read your comments about the Cake Talking tutorial and wanted to take
this opportunity to say that with the free hour of tech support provided by
Dancing Dots when I purchased my DAW and Yamaha Motif XF in 2013, coupled with
the tutorial, I was able to get up and running fairly quickly on the basics. I
graduated with an associates in Audio Technology back in 1991 when all but some
of the effects and mastering equipment was still analog. I have been out of
the recording seen for over 25 years and had never worked with music software
before Sonar and Cake Talking. I said in an earlier message that I do not have
the time or resources to put into learning/purchasing Reaper or Samplitude and
for what I am doing, mostly writing and recording for pleasure and the periodic
consideration of doing some voice over work, Sonar and Cake Talking get me what
I need. I was dragged into using Windows 10 at work and now on my home PC
kicking and screaming but have my DAW with Windows 7 rarely on the Internet and
keep hoping and praying that it will last for awhile longer. I already have to
go into Setup every time I turn it on and specify which hard drive to boot from
because I need to replace the system battery and just have not checked into
what that will take.
I greatly respect and appreciate the talent and knowledge many share on this
list. Thanks so much for the help you all have provided thus far and will
hopefully be able to provide awhile longer.
Very sincerely,
Dave Munroe

check the ratio of messages I post. When I say the ratio, I mean
the number of posts I write to ask for help from others, and the
number of

the world or to know everything, and I will be the first to
concede that there are allot of people out there who are much
smarter than, and
me, Imore than I do, but with the little knowledge that God has given
help, wetry to help as many as I can. But I also started out like you and
everyone else, not knowing much and having lots of questions, and
facing all the frustrations that come with learning new material
as well as confronting the many challenges of accessibility to all
this software and hardware. But with lots of patience and
persistence I began to make way.
For example, when I switched from analog to digital recording back
in the late 90's, I didn't have access to all these lists to ask
havecertainly didn't have YouTube and the many sharing platforms we do
today, online tutorials and walkthroughs were rare, and we didn't
you tothe many scripting and software advances we have today! Moreover,
neither did we have a nice big 400 page tutorial we could
reference whenever we got stuck (maybe now you can see why we
would advise
none ofread the thing?). To say more, before I started using Cakewalk pro
audio 9 (before SONAR was SONAR), my first digital sequencer was a
completely inaccessible software by Yamaha called XGWorks on
Windows 98. Then I also used Fruity Loops studio and Reason. Of
course
Cakewalkthese programs were accessible or nearly as complete to use as
had towas then and Samplitude and SONAR are now, but it was my passion
for what I do, and desire to write, compose and record my own
music that drove me right past all those obstacles and focus on my
goal. I
that iswrite my own JAWS scripts to get access to some of these and other
programs, or develop massive complex workarounds to have some kind
of access to them. So believe me, I understand all the frustration
figure Iinvolved in this and all the work that goes into it, and I also
know how important it is for you to read and do your own studying,
and not just ask questions; and if by all means you are going to
ask a question, don't ignore or disregard the responses you get!
(Man, writing this posts makes me feel similar to a historical

Many of us who offer help have had years of experience doing this
arts,of work, many of us own or run professional studios, have gone to
school for this and hold degrees in audio engineering, recording
don'taudio acoustics or similar, and some of us even work as private

sayknow your background in audio engineering, recording arts etc, I
can tell you this, it is not good when someone offers you advice
and you just ignore them and basically say O I don't need to do
that or try that because I know allot. Then why are you asking? I
hope you understand my point and what I mean; and it is not my
intention to

weresimply suggesting was that you read the CakeTalking tutorial, so
that you can get a grasp of all the terminology and the principals

different things, and is really a starting place for anyone who is
package, soto CakeTalking and SONAR, or audio/midi recording in general.
Furthermore, as Chris wrote, you paid money for the software, and
the tutorial is actually one of the highlights of the scripting

In any case, hope you (or anyone else) are not offended by this

I don't personally feel I need to help someone who doesn't want

Greetings DJ,
Of course I know most things, like how to create a project folder,
transposed atand paste to many midi tracks to give an impression of a true
synth playing (piano and strings together or two piano patches
synthesizers toone or two octaves between each other, as used in some
theplay the chaabi from Algiers).
Indeed, I think you are wrong because I know many functions except
folder, way to put some particular tracks and unite them in that track
theto name a few items.
Also, I've found a way in the summer of 2015 to sound somehow like
friendChipmunks. I selected the tracks in question, in which I had
recorded my singing from a song by Gilles Vignault called "Jean du
pays", used as a parody in Québec to replace "Happy
Birthday" for one's
thenbirthday. Then, I selected pitch shift as part of the CT effects,
duration andTime Stretch and voilà .
By mistake, I accidentally deleted that option, time stretches,
and, three months later, I found the option length. Indeed, lower
is the percentage of the clip, shorter (and faster) its playback
is. For example, to sound like the chipmunks, I usually reduce to
half the speed of the original recording to make it half the
clip's
thetwice as fast. I was trying the option to length the clip, keeping
Alvinpitch shifting and the Chipmunk effect was bad.
Finally, in early 2017, I tried transpose the audio track by 12
semitones and lengthen that clip to make it 50% of the normal length.
In other words, it should be the whole clip reduced to halp and
twice as fast. In my opinion, it is not too bad.
By the way, does anybody knowes other tricks to really sound like
Envoyé : 7and the Chipmunks or something similar?
I Thank you.

Adel, as Chris has suggested, I'd also suggest you start by
underCT tutorial. Note that in this context CT stands for CakeTalking.
You can find the tutorial in various formats in your documents
folder
programsCakeTalking, or from the CakeTalking folder in your start menu
out ofsection. These concepts are basic terms and principals of audio,
they aren't even specific to SONAR; thus it would do you good to
get familiar with these terms and paradigms in order to get the
most
theyour experience with any Digital Audio Workstation, not just SONAR.
You seem to be confused by busses and track folders, and moreover,
tracksdifferences between audio and midi tracks. You cannot send midi
understand atto an audio buss, and there is really no such thing as a midi buss.
Again, these are basic terms, that while they are hard to
feelfirst (and it is so for allot of people when they begin, so don't
section, bad), by reading and researching you should be able to start
understanding these and other fundamental concepts of audio and
MIDI recording.
The tutorials for CakeTalking were written in an entertaining and
practical standpoint/point of view, so you should be (dare I say)
entertained as well as informed as you read. However, don't just
read through the entire thing like a novel, take your time in each
is apractice the concepts and walkthroughs in sonar for yourself etc.
It will really help you!

Hi all,
Okay, I need help with this one. In Sonar, I have a trac in a
project that I cannot pan.
I must be crazy.
So the audio track is hard left. This track is also assigned to
course.Panning them all including track pan even hard right does not
move it at all. All controls and effects other than pan work just fine.
Cloning the track also cloned the issue.
There is no automation on the track.
Obviously, the workaround is to move the data elsewhere, delete
the track, create a new track and paste it back. This does work
