Hi all,

I’ve had a wonderful time in Hawaii visiting family and will leave for SJ
tomorrow am.
I’d appreciate prayers for my 64 yr old Uncle Ric who had a Basal Ganglia
stroke yesterday afternoon. I have been hanging out with him a lot and
spent time helping him with getting used to technology and moving furniture
in my sister’s van.

He was in Waikiki to visit friends and was in the parking lot of the Ritz C
when a police man found him. He was patrolling and noticed him in his car
and saw that he needed medical attention. They were able to contact my Aunt
because his driver’s license has her home address on it. His speech is
garbled and cannot move his right arm. It’s unclear as to whether or not he
can walk. He can eat things like apple sauce. Today they moved him out of
the ICU and into a regular room. Only one visitor at a time and so my aunt
will cover the weekend and my mom will cover the week.

I can’t help but be a little concerned because my mom’s older sister and
younger sister both passed suddenly a number of years ago and it’s shocking
to see him affected at such a young age. I worry about my mom approaching
her late 70s and my aunt who a few years older than U. Ric.

Please pray for a speedy recovery and that his speech and mobility would be
completely restored. Stroke runs in the family and my grandfather had his
when he was 59. Uncle Ric moved from FL to HI last year and we are so glad that
the stroke happened here and also where he could be found because he lives
alone. He is not a Christian and so please also pray for opportunities for
him to draw closer to God. U Ric is our favorite uncle and so lovable. As
you can see below, he is a kid magnet with all the cousins.
