Hi everyone,
Hope you all are well! I wanted to share about our Halloween house this year
in the event that you would like to visit it or help with it.
Theme - LegosThe theme this year is Lego! We will have a giant-sized Lego
spaceship, castle tower, double-decker couch and more! In addition, we will
have some folks dressed in custom-made mini-figure costumes to greet guests.
Times? Days?
We will be open three nights this year:- Friday, October 29th, 6:00 - 9:00 pm
(no treats)- Saturday, October 30th, 6:00 - 9:00 pm (no treats)- Sunday,
October 31st, 6:00 - 9:00 pm (treats!)
Treats? Covid? Similar to last year, we will not be inviting guests up onto our
porch, but instead will have a low fence at the front of the yard to keep folks
on the sidewalk. We WILL be passing out treats this year, but we have
streamlined it in the following way: We will pre-bag the treats (necklace,
lollipop, sticker), and have our treat-hander-outers just keep a supply of the
bags at the edge of a table near the sidewalk available for kids to just grab a
bag (no choosing treats, no putting glow necklaces on kids). This should
hopefully make for shorter times at the treat area. Our treat-passer-outers
will be given special yellow (Lego yellow) medical masks (like what we all have
been wearing this past year) and orange safety vests (so that they kind of
resemble Emmet from the Lego movie a bit).
In the past, we have opened our house as a hang out place for friends and
family, but this year we will not be doing that (hope to resume that in the
future!).
Help Paint? If you are interested in helping us paint the giant Legos, we have 2
painting days:- Saturday, Oct. 16 - 9:00 am - 12:00 noon- Saturday, Oct. 23 -
9:00 am - 12:00 noon... at our house. Should be similar to other painting days
we have had in the past. When do you get a chance to paint a Lego castle or
space ship?
Special Mini-Figure Costumes?A few folks have volunteered to be costumed
characters at the Lego house, and in order to make sure that there is a
consistency of look for the costumes, I am making each of the Lego mini-figure
costumes. (For those on this list who have volunteered, you know who you are
and I will be sending out separate emails just to you). For others who would
like to help out at the house on any of the nights, we might suggest that you
wear something like the following:- All of one primary color (yellow, red,
blue)- Something similar to this brick costume.- Treat passer-outers will get
the aforementioned orange safety vest and yellow medical mask.(We are looking
to not have people wear store-bought or other home-made mini-figure costumes
this year as part of the scene, as we will already have a good number of folks
in our small space).
Helping at the House? If you are interested in helping pass out treats for any
of the nights, please let us know! That way we can make sure we have coverage
on each of the nights.
