Standards Australia Seeking Feedback on Aged Standards
Standards Australia are seeking feedback on a number of Aged Standards
(documents over ten years old) to keep their catalogue contemporary and
relevant.
Let Standards Australia know if these standards are still used by your industry
or community by Monday 18 December 2017.
Standards Australia asks relevant Technical Committees with an active work
program to review Aged Standards within their area of oversight and decide
whether particular publications should be reconfirmed, revised, made
obsolescent or withdrawn.
Reconfirmation – Is appropriate when the document’s status as a current
Standard is to be renewed (“reconfirmed”) without any changes to its content.
Revision – Is appropriate when the document's content and/or structure needs to
be updated. The Revision process remains subject to Standards Australia’s usual
standards development procedures.
Obsolescent – This indicates that the document is not recommended for new
equipment or as a current practice, but is retained in order to provide for
servicing of existing equipment or requirements.
Withdrawal – This indicates that the document is no longer relevant, or its
designation has changed. (See further information below on Withdrawn Standards)
http://www.standards.org.au/StandardsDevelopment/Developing_Standards/Pages/Withdrawing-Standards.aspx
The process is as follows:
The list of Aged Standards proposed for withdrawal will be published on the
Standards Australia website. Notification will be issued through Standards
Australia newsletters and dedicated correspondence to committee members and
Nominating Organisations.
There will be a 9-week public consultation period on the proposed list. All
members of the public are invited to look at the list and to let Standards
Australia know of any objections to the proposed withdrawal of any Aged
Standards in the list.
Following the consultation period, if no objections are received, Standards
Australia will progress with the withdrawal of the Aged Standards.
If objections to withdraw the Aged Standards are received, Standards Australia
will assess the objections and where necessary undertake further consultation
before reaching a final determination on the most appropriate course of action.
Why should I participate in the Aged Standards Review?
Your expertise and input as the end-user of the Standards is invaluable.
Standards Australia want to hear from you on whether these Aged Standards are
still useful and relevant. If they are still being used in your industry or
community, then we will work with the relevant stakeholders to continue making
these Standards available. By assisting Standards Australia to identify which
Standards are still useful and relevant, you are also helping Standards
Australia to make decisions about allocating our time and resources into areas
that are aligned with Australia’s needs. For further information, please
contact Standards Australia on 1800 035 822 or <AgedStandards@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>
to email the Aged Standards Team.
