Providing a leadership pathway to enhance professional competence for South Australians who are blind or vision impaired, the inaugural program will launch on Tuesday, 5 June at the Australian Institute of Management (AIM). The program aims to develop future leaders in the blind community by enhancing communication, developing and maintaining networks and improve employability skills related to personal presentation, writing skills and self-esteem. The 10 participants who are blind or vision impaired will be mentored throughout the duration of the program, which includes 12 three-hour AIM workshops. “The participants range in age from 17 to 47 and it is envisaged that they will go on to advocate for the South Australian blindness community,” said RSB Community Services Manager, Dennis Moir. “They’re a fantastic group of people, from Rachel Henderson who will soon compete at the Paralympics for Goal Ball to Michael Zannis who represents Australia for Blind Cricket,” said Dennis. The program mentors come from a range of corporate backgrounds across Adelaide , including KPMG Advisory, Norman Waterhouse Solicitors and Boston Kennedy Recruitment.
