Transperth - Perth Station access changes (effective Tuesday 3 January 2012) Perth City Link Project Sent: Wednesday, 28 December, 2011 7:25 AM From: "TravelEasy" <enquiries@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Perth Station access changes - Effective Tuesday 3 January 2012 From Tuesday 3 January 2012 the Perth City Link Rail Alliance will begin work in Perth Station on stage one of the new pedestrian underpasses, which will connect all platforms to Perth Underground on one seamless level. To build stage one, part of Perth Station’s Platform 5, from the Wellington Street entrance to under the Horseshoe Bridge, will close. Passengers connecting between services will use a temporary passage located in front of the Perth Station building (see map). This will be in place until mid 2012. http://www.pta.wa.gov.au/RailProject/Currentworks/PerthStationaccesschanges/tabid/510/language/en-AU/Default.aspx The passage is very similar in length to the existing route via Platform 5. The temporary walkway, connecting Platform 5 and Platform 6/7 in Perth Station, will also close to allow room to build the underpass. About the Project http://www.pta.wa.gov.au/RailProject/Currentworks/PerthStationaccesschanges/tabid/510/language/en-AU/Default.aspx From the first week of January 2012, work will begin in Perth Station on stage one of the new pedestrian underpass, which will connect all platforms to Perth Underground on one seamless level. To build stage one, a section of Perth Station’s Platform 5, from the Wellington Street entrance to under the Horseshoe Bridge (see map), will close. http://www.pta.wa.gov.au/RailProject/Currentworks/PerthStationaccesschanges/tabid/510/language/en-AU/Default.aspx When closed, this section will be demolished to track level, the walls of the new pedestrian underpass installed, earth removed and the underpass roof built. Once the roof is in place Platform 5 will be rebuilt, allowing it to be reopened to passengers before the next stage of the underpass begins. This work is scheduled for completion in mid-2012. Passengers http://www.pta.wa.gov.au/RailProject/Currentworks/PerthStationaccesschanges/tabid/510/language/en-AU/Default.aspx During the partial Platform 5 closure, passengers connecting between services in Perth Station, Perth Underground or Wellington Street Bus Station will use a temporary passage located in front of the Perth Station building. The partially covered passage keeps passengers inside the paid area of Perth Station and is accessible from under the Horseshoe Bridge and one side of the Wellington Street entrance (see map). The passage is very similar in length to the existing route via Platform 5. The temporary walkway, connecting Platform 5 and Platform 6/7 in Perth Station, will also close to allow room to build the underpass.
