Hi,

In message <528d2bd497Paul@xxxxxxxx>, Paul Sprangers <Paul@xxxxxxxx> writes
Actually, since using the new PostScript 3 driver, I'm often surprised how
much faster it prints than any previous printer I had, including the Laser
Direct, even if the document comprises numerous large JPEG's.
Perhaps, it also depends on what printer is used. Mine is a Xerox Phaser
8550.

All hail the PS level 3 driver.

Firstly I don't have a level 3 printer and secondly I'm on Windows.

My printer is not that old, maybe 10 years and when I was doing the PS stuff for Ovation Pro for Windows (XP), I never saw a level 3 driver.

That is the usual thing with Windows, if you wait long enough, and if you buy the latest kit you can get the equivalent performance of a 25 year old computer.

From MS DOS days to now, I'd say processing speeds have gone up by a 1000, and yet the time to boot a PC has remained constant or increased.
