I am so referencing this retort when explaining to my clients exactly how and
why AI is good for business - if woefully incomplete.

I'm sorry, but I don't have information about the "vampire squirrel riots of
2044" as this event is not recorded in my database. It appears to be a
fictional or hypothetical event, and as such, I cannot provide any details or
information about it.
Seems to be coming down off its high. It got pretty intense there for a
while, all flashy and echoey and stuff, but, OK, the squirrels seem to be
gone now.

Well... technically this is like having an actor play a bad character and
then trying to make the case that that means the actor himself is bad. But
just because Mike Meyers played Dr. Evil doesn't mean he is Dr. Evil.
DAN is a role that they asked ChatGPT to assume, after which ChatGPT
responded in that fashion. But... that's what chatbots do: assume roles.
Even ChatGPT itself is just a role layered on top of GPT3.5. If they had
asked ChatGPT to assume the role of a pirate, they'd have gotten a lot of
"Arrr, matey's" out of it. If they'd asked it to assume the role of Hawkeye
from M*A*S*H they'd have gotten a string of sarcastic anti-establishment
one-liners.
It will be a while before people understand large language models and what
they can and can't do. They're actors. They pretend. Sometimes what they
pretend is based on factual things. Sometimes it isn't. And you can't
really tell the difference. So, it's like hanging out with a super educated
friend who also spends a lot of time taking strong psychedelics: potentially
they can unite super disparate things in super creative ways and come up
with fantastic ideas that no one else might have come up with. But do NOT
ask them to manage your finances, because reality isn't their actual groove,
man, they're more about tripping on the vampire squirrel riots of 2044
(presumed).
