Hopefully it is a real awakening for them. I have to say I am also
surprised at how many of them are doubling-down. Five days later and I am
still hearing how this was antifa.
Antifa is their word for the bogeyman and they don't even realize.
So... I never followed the Rwanda thing because it was too gruesome. I know
that is a fault of mine. Because of that, I wasn't familiar with Radio
Rwanda -- maybe you all were more aware? And how because it was allowed to
continue to spew hate, lies and calls for violence many more people were
killed than would have been if it had been silenced.
Today I am seeing several people make the connected between Radio Rwanda
and all the tech companies shutting down the un-moderated social media. I
AM SO THANKFUL. I am so thankful. I am so thankful.

by the parody comics.
There is another video of a kid who is just confounded by the response of
the police/guards. Like, how could they not be on his side? He is such an
idiot. Like, forehead slapping idiot.
And it makes you realize how much education there is ahead of us. If we are
able to reach them at all.

I saw a Colbert segment where he showed some footage of some woman who got
maced pretty early on and went some ways away from the action to rinse her
face off with water, where a journalist was asking her what happened, *on
camera*. She told the journalist the whole thing, about how they were
breaking in, and then the cops inside maced them, and then she went off
into a pretty indignant tirade about it. Then the journalist asked her
what her name was and she gave not only her full name, but the city she

in the first place, she exclaimed "It's a revolution!" like the journalist
was an idiot for asking such an obvious question.
Well, there was certainly an idiot there, but I don't think it was the
journalist.
Apparently taking unmasked selfies and livestreaming ones own felonies was
kind of a group activity that day, but I'm sure things will (or should)
play out at the individual level (which we are seeing some of even now).
I get the feeling that there were probably a bunch of people there, who,
for some reason, thought that storming the Capitol, smashing stuff up,
stealing things, and so on, was a totally cool thing to take part in like
it was a Woodstock concert or something - something *awesome *that you
could say "*I was* *THERE*" about and it would just impress everybody
from now until forever. You could proudly wear red, white and blue "I
stormed the Capitol" t-shirts and everyone would love them. All the
participants could stand on a congress-person's desk, raise their fists in
the air, yell "WOO HOO, WE WON!", get a selfie, and then they could just go
home and get a good nights rest after the totally fun day.
I think the thought that they were actually committing real crimes (and
serious ones at that) didn't even occur to a substantial portion of them.
I don't think the thought that because five people died AND there are
numerous shots of different people holding handfuls of zip-ties throughout
the building and loudly asking "Where's Pence, where's the senators?" AND
that there actually was a (probably incompetently built) gallows
constructed right outside the building would be something *they *were
responsible for *too *occurred to them. But guess what? Being part of a
mob doesn't mean responsibility is diffused. It just means it's widely
shared.
A lot of them were there for teh lulz, but I for one don't think that
excuses anybody. You wanted lulz, see how many you get in prison. Because
that's where every single one of those assholes belong. Stupidity just
isn't an excuse for waging war on your own country. I mean, the stupidity
is kind of inseparably built into it.
