As it reaches its 8th edition, ACE has become the leading scientific forum for dissemination of cutting-edge research results in the area of entertainment computing. Interactive entertainment is one of the most vibrant areas of interest in modern society and is amongst the fastest growing industries in the world. ACE 2011 will bring together leading researchers and practitioners from academia and industry to present their innovative work and discuss all aspects and challenges of interactive entertainment technology, in a cool and stimulating environment.

ACE is by nature a multi-disciplinary conference, therefore attracting people across a wide spectrum of interests and disciplines including computer science, design, arts, sociology, anthropology, psychology, and marketing. The main goal of ACE is to stimulate discussion in the development of new and compelling entertainment computing and interactive art concepts and applications. All ACE participants are encouraged to present work they believe will shape the future, going beyond the established paradigms, and focusing on all areas related to interactive entertainment including:

Call for papers and workshops is now closed but we welcome submissions in the following categories:

- Late breaking results__

Provides researchers with an opportunity to present their preliminary or exploratory work, smaller projects or research findings that are not yet suitable for a Paper, but nonetheless are merit of discussion from an open forum.

Submissions to this track should not exceed 2 pages in ACM format.

- Creative Showcase and Interactive Art

The Creative Showcase is open to a large variety of submissions including, but not limited to:

* Technical demonstrations of prototype technologies of advanced entertainment technology

   * All varieties of video and computer games

   * Interactive art, drama, fiction and other narrative forms

   * Web and mobile-based computer entertainment

   * Audio, visual and other sensory forms of digital interaction

Submissions to this track should be accompanied of a 2 page abstract in ACM format. All accepted submissions will be published in conference proceedings. Authors may include videos and photos with the submission, and such materials are strongly encouraged if they strengthen the results of the contribution.

- Tutorials

Tutorial proposals will be considered for half-day and full-day tutorials.

Topics should have a direct relevance to the interest of ACE2011.

- Game Competition

The ACE2011 game contest is a worldwide competition. It emphasizes the engineering aspects of game development, not limited to programming. Teams submit software products, covering the whole software development process.

After a careful evaluation carried out by the Program Committee, several finalist teams will be invited to ACE 2011 in Lisbon to present and demonstrate their projects.

Accepted manuscripts of Creative Showcase abstracts will appear in the ACE 2011 Digital Proceedings, ACM Digital Library, where they will remain accessible to thousands of researchers and practitioners worldwide.

Awards:

Best creative showcases will be selected based on a jury of well respected pioneers in the field attending the conference. We'll honour the authors of these publications by presenting awards including:
