The just-announced estate sale is a good opportunity for local CVARC hams to get into 2-meter SSB operation. This is a great band/mode for communication across Vermont. It does not require large antennas and is a great regional band.

The following items being sold in the estate sale would be great starting points for 2-meter SSB. There are other potentially useful items (e.g., 2M amplifiers) there as well.

 * IC-746, tested good, $350
 * IC-275A, tested good, $200
 * IC-706, works on 2-meters, no output on other bands, make offer
 * 2-meter Halo, tested good, $60
 * M-Squared 2-meter yagi, 7 elements, $50
 * 2-meter yagi, 6 elements, needs work (broken driven element), $10

Any of these would be a good place to start.

(I have no financial interest in the estate sale.)

It's a great time to jump in and get started on 2M SSB. I am looking to organize some 2M SSB nets once we have enough local hams on that band/mode.
