Any ideas?

At exactly 6:20 am this morning it started working, SMTP connection times dropped from 30 seconds to 2 seconds.

Magic gnomes come on duty, gremlin union says go home at 6:20 am or is there a more technical reason.

I had a similar issue long time ago. I solved mine quicker by using my export script to export users and add them to assp's flat file as a backup to LDAP. I actually think there is something touchy about Glenn's LDAP code. It sometimes takes FOREVER and hangs the assp thread. What probably has happened is that assp's ldap cache is filled so it only has to look at the cache in most instances rather than putting a big burden on EIMS' LDAP.
