I've been running ASSP the latest release from a couple of months on an underpowered PPC Mac mini with a couple domains for testing. I cloned the test install to my production machine, everything seemed fine but two minutes after startup ASSP starts to bog, SMTP connection crawl and the admin take forever to change. Pop connection are not effected, there is next to no CPU usage and plenty of free ram. Xserve dual 2 GHz G5 1 gig ram Mac OS X 10.5.7 all latest updates Any ideas? At exactly 6:20 am this morning it started working, SMTP connection times dropped from 30 seconds to 2 seconds.Magic gnomes come on duty, gremlin union says go home at 6:20 am or is there a more technical reason.
I had a similar issue long time ago. I solved mine quicker by using my export script to export users and add them to assp's flat file as a backup to LDAP. I actually think there is something touchy about Glenn's LDAP code. It sometimes takes FOREVER and hangs the assp thread. What probably has happened is that assp's ldap cache is filled so it only has to look at the cache in most instances rather than putting a big burden on EIMS' LDAP.
