Organization of Collindale Swim Team Parent Board
Every year is a learning year! This year we are beginning the season with
a more structured parent board than we have previously had to help organize
and manage the team. While we are still working on some of the details
around bylaws and structure, we would like to introduce the board that will
be helping to serve the team this year.

These folks (and several others) have been busy since last fall getting
ready for the 2014 year and are excited to see things coming together. If
you have any questions or concerns regarding swim team, we would love to

Plans for Coaching
We are in the final stages of negotiating a contract with the Fort Collins
Area Swim Team (FAST) to provide coaching services for our team this year. We
will have a head coach as well as assistant coaches from their system with
the built-in benefits of the training and certifications required to be a
FAST coach. This is similar to the way we hired coaches last year,
although we worked through Splash Pool Services instead of FAST. With
FAST, we will be assured that our coaches have gone through background
checks and have had references checked. While FAST will be providing
coaches, we will not be a FAST team. We will remain a summer club (as we
always have been) run by the parents for our swimmers. We will have more
details as the season gets closer and will be happy to field any questions
in this area. We believe this is really a win-win for both Collindale Swim
Team and FAST.
There has been some misinformation given that Collindale Swim Team will be
sharing the pool with FAST. To be clear, Collindale Swim Team does not own
the pool and never has. The Collindale Recreation Association decides who
will use the pool and when, and they have a long history of supporting
Collindale Swim Team. Last year, they also allowed FAST to use Collindale
pool after summer season was over during the time that EPIC was unavailable.
(You could say that Collindale Swim Team “shared” the pool with FAST last
year, in that sense.) The Collindale Recreation Board has given us every
assurance that they want Collindale Swim Team to continue to have use of
the pool and whatever support they can give us to help us be successful.

Next Communication
On 5/5, we will have an information packet regarding meets, fees, forms,
email list, and coaches. Please plan on forwarding this to any prospective
swimmers and families you know that would be interested in swim team. Help
us get the word out!
We are very excited to move into a new season. We look forward to seeing
many returning faces as well as many new ones.
