| DC 37 Family,Very early this morning, the DC 37 Bargaining Committee and
the city’s Office of Labor Relations signed a tentative contract agreement that
delivers a $3,000 bonus for you upon ratification, a 16.21% compounded wage
increase over the five-plus-year agreement, a Child Care Trust Fund, and a
minimum of $18 wages for all members under that amount. Additionally, the
contract establishes a pilot program for flexible work options that meet the
demands of today’s workplace, including remote work, compressed and flexible
schedules, and improved transit benefits. I want to thank the entire DC 37
Bargaining Committee, which includes your Local Presidents and my Associate
Directors Jahmila Edwards and Rose Lovaglio-Miller, for their work to negotiate
the best possible contract on your behalf.View today’s press conference with
Mayor Adams announcing the agreement here.This was a hard-fought contract
agreement that took place over two mayoral administrations. We could not have
gotten to this point without your action– whether you took the time to fill out
the member survey and share your contract priorities last year, showed up for
our rally at City Hall last June to demand a start to negotiations, or shared a
message of solidarity yesterday during our Day of Action, every effort you put
into securing a new contract made all the difference at the bargaining table.
This is what our union is about: unity.
Now the decision is yours to make: This contract and its negotiated benefits
are subject to ratification by DC 37 members. First, the agreement goes to our
delegates for approval on Feb. 28. In the weeks following, every member in good
standing will receive a ballot in the mail with an outline of the agreed-upon
demands.
The DC 37 Bargaining Committee and I support the terms of the agreement and
strongly recommend your ratification of this contract.In solidarity,
