My Dear Haim,
Personally...I don't know any of them...so, for me, I don't know whether liking
them or not liking them is a question worth bothering about. To me, it is more
about what they do...or don't do...which I find interesting. Most
politicians...including the few that I have met over the years...appear to
become human beings again after they leave or retire from politics, I have
noticed.
Perhaps it is the science and art of politics which makes them into such
objects of hatred and dislike, to be feared and despised, or to be loved and
hated at the same time. The laws of ambition, greed, selling out their
grandmothers, power hungriness, and the undermining, subversion, character
assassination, and contrariness against perceived or not perceived threats,
enemies and friends, who may or may not be wanting to kick them off the
pedestal, which they have constructed for themselves, by compromising on any
and every principle, moral, ethical or logical proposition brought on by those
very laws of the political game and which eventually places them in that
position of power where they have used up any free thinking decisions they
might have had, any room for manoeuvre, in political alliances which got them
to the top of the pile; and are left as isolated as a yacht on the high seas,
rudderless and with a fog horn for a voice and this is what makes them and
their decision-making abilities so futile and the solutions they provide as
completely unsuited to the task in hand.
Ever since I lost my belief in heroes and their ability able to save the world,
including myself, which is called the mid-life crisis, I have not pursued a
solution, but just made comments to suggest that there are alternatives. The
world changes whether they or me wants it to change or not. The world changes
in ways which I do or do not like, and there is little that you or I, or anyone
else can do about it, it seems to me. Our lives are so short, compared with
geological and species time and who will remember Netanyahu or Trump or
Thatcher or Churchill in 10,000 or 100,000 years time, when the next ice age
takes over after a bit of global warming?
One has only to look at issues of the environment, from the pollution of our
land, rivers and seas, with the wholesale dumping of plastics which is now
getting in to the human food chain, and the churning up of the rain forests
which are sinks for carbon dioxide, without replacing them. I can remember the
1960's when I got all excited after I discovered William Morris's millionaire
Utopian Socialist Novel called "News From Nowhere", so much so, that I got
involved with the "green" movement, only to discover that I had read the book
before the leaders of that movement had, and saw them, from their birthright of
privilege, use its contents and ideas to base Friends of the Earth and
Greenpeace on its principles and then used the organisation to their own
advantage, turned it into a business model...that got caught out telling
porkies, so losing its credibility that I lost my "greeness".
Whether the use of the word "shithole" constitutes as a racist remark...is a
somewhat academic argument and beyond me, it is a superfluous debate. which
detracts from what should be getting discussed and acted on. The world is full
of shitholes, including the US, the UK, and parts of the developing world...in
my view...and we are doing little or nuffink about them, but watch them grow
and diversify, until they are danger of swallowing us up...but hey...who wants
to be a doom merchant who digests the indigestible plastic conspiracy
theories...:-).
With the kindest of respects.

Interesting story line, especially about Netanyahu still under
investigation on two counts.
