Good web site this, well worth exploring the other parts, quite comprehensive with a time line...which needs bringing up to date.
For update on latest drafts, reports, moves and changes by the UK government on its surveillance legislation. Apparently, the peoples privacy is catered for by inserting the word "privacy" into the legislation at one point. Changes have yet to be made regarding mass surveillance due to European Human Rights cases in Hungary and Russia, making it illegal. Russia, a signatory to human rights has ignored it and created its own legislation. The problem for the UK is that if the government here ignores it, there will be challenges occurring all the time from various individuals and lobby groupings in the human rights and civil liberties field. In its present form...it won't overcome the ECHR provisions.
