I don't have a problem with Yu yu hakusho not having a timer either.
I see it as a comeback assisting mechanic rather than timer scam.
At the end of the day you must knock out the opponent in order to win.

The game is not dynamic, because you can win and run away and you can be
low health and run away, a game may or may not last forever, a game can
never end then, you can constantly plane switch, run away, GG. worst game
