Might and Magic Heroes VI reminded me of how far Ubisoft has fallen. It seems like everything they touch turns to shit. - You need to install Ubisoft's crappy UPlay client and create an account - The game uses always-online DRM. You can play offline, but certain features are missing, like pre-level bonus selection which has always been part of the series. - If for some reason the game can't connect to their servers, you can't unlock the DLC Here's the best part: Suppose, like me, you played offline for five hours because the servers were down. The next time you launch the game and it manages to connect to the server, all your saved games magically disappear and you have to restart from scratch! That's presumably because the game sees online and offline as two different modes, which is one of the stupidest things I've ever come across in a videogame because Online and Offline campaigns are exactly the same. I suppose they were too lazy to try to figure out which achievements you've already unlocked once you connected, so they just force you to restart (remind me again why this is even necessary considering it's a Steam title...) The game itself is also disappointing but at the end of the day it's still HoMM so I expect to be playing it for quite a while. The developers went bankrupt. Here's what one of them had to say about their time working with Ubisoft: http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/forums/showthread.php?4267-Heroes-6-dev-goes-bankrupt-blames-Ubisoft On Wed, Aug 6, 2014 at 11:07 AM, Manase Zote <bmlzote@xxxxxxxxx<mailto:bmlzote@xxxxxxxxx>> wrote: Awesome!
