Here in the States I remember the wig-wag signals being used at a lot of
crossings on Santa Fe, S.P., P.E. Sac. Northern, and UP. There was generally
only one wig-wag unless it was a four lane crossing, then there would be two
or right in the middle of the street a wave-wag mounted on a concrete
pillar. I remember out by Riverside on the S.F. they had a post with a
diamond sign and the wig-wag went back and forth in the diamond. The boards
had "Railroad Crossing" on them. I hope this is some help to you guys.

Subject: [cpsig] wig-wag signals
I'm trying to determine if wig-wag signals were used singly or mostly
as pairs. Once regular flashers came in to use there was always two
that I have seen. However, on some back roads....on CP anyway, there
were bell signals combined with a flashing? danger sign that were
used by themselves. Any info would be helpful.
