I would appreciate some assistance answering two questions for my personal
modeling purposes. Both apply to the circa 1953 timeframe:
1. What color (as viewed from the outside) were the shades used on HW passenger
cars? The BGR Group includes gray paper with their kits and indeed I've seen
such color used but most of the (color) photos I've seen were taken in the
1960s and later. Other color photos show a dark green. It's difficult to draw
any conclusions when looking at b&w photos.
The few colour photos I have looks like off-white or light grey shades.
2. When did the switch from two car numbers per side to one occur? Photos
suggest some time in the late 1940s, perhaps 1950.
The switch started in the spring of 1948. I have lettering drawing, K-34-C-113
Rev. C. dated March 2nd, 1948. The first revision date is January 29, 1948.
