Now Pullman cars for tours could be coming to Winnipeg and joining the Dominion
at Winnipeg then running west to Banff then Vancouver
With the Dominion ending service in 1966 the tours disappeared . Now a comment
1967 the Expo Express anyone have a time table for that train?? I can remember
seeing it inthe Rockies in 1967. This came to me this morning 42 years ago this
morning I was on the Canadian heading west to Banff and the School of Fine
Arts. I arrived in Banff on July 1st 1967 my Centianial project those of us
that were around it was" the thing" to have a Centenial Project . That day
there were 24 cars on the Canadian that day 2 dinning cars and one skyline and
the park car sorry can,t remember which Park Car from Sudbury on but it was
Banff Park Toronto to Sudbury My Manor car was even east of the platform in
Banff . when I got off .I had 2 Nikon Cameras and four Nikkor lenses a suit
case thenpick up a second suit case at the station . did I grab a cab now way
I walked the 2miles to the school to think of that today yikes !!! Now that
trip was the full fillment of a
promise by my mom. In 1954 Intoured chateau Bienville and Banff Park at the
CNE she promised that we wouold ride the train out West someday it just took
13 years to come true regards DAVID HILL

Before commenting on Pullmans on CPR Passenger trains I consulted on
"Nichols Morrants Canadian Pacific re Pullman cars .ok refer to page
132,135,141,160 ,161 ,263,384 there is reference to the Mountaineer and
Pullman cars .I first visited Banff in 1963 there were a myriad of US line
cars across from the station and to the east of the station . these were
tour trains coming to the Canadian Rockies Passengers would detrain for a
couple of nights in Banff and region then move on . What I wonder is were
there extra movements after the Mountaineer was discontinued ??into to the
early sixties . By the time I went to Banff in 1967 to school at the Banff
School of Fine Arts the myriad of US railway cars had disappeared . Now an
interesting note re Kodachrome on page148 Nick Morrant tells about being
invited to Rochester to see Kodachrome . The security measures .Kodak
realized how important CPR was as a commercial client at that time. Also it
must be considered how Nicholas was way ahead of his time he was using one
of those miniature LECIA Cameras in 1932!!! truly radical . and color in
1939!!! great that he did since we can see with great detail railway
operations of the CPR in those times , regards DAVID HILL
