Thanks Brent. Are those photos from 3321? It appears as though the coach
portion has berths, so I was wondering of they were showing it with its
colonist car origins.
3321 was originally colonist car and when downgraded in service it would
still have berths in place. That was pretty typical because the berth was
out of the way.
The usual life of a passenger car was origin class -> next lower class ->
lower class -> Mow -> scrapped
Some cars skipped a step but generally most cars served 1 lower class before
being scrapped.
I am curious as to whether or not these cars and the 3260-3299 series
maintained their wood interiors and original seats to end of life or were
they painted and had the seats upgraded.
The information that I have, and sorry no proof, is that the cars maintained
their interior finish. It is doubtful that they were ever painted because
all the documentation I have only shows interior painting were on
heavyweight cars.
