Thank you.
We need this information for Rapido Trains’ Transcona CPR caboose project.
Does anyone have a good clear photo of the stencil block are of a caboose from
the late 70’s? We want the stencil block data to be perfectly accurate. We
don’t want some rivet counter to catch us on something like that. ;-)

Subject: [cpsig] Re: Consolidated stencil block
Now this is detail! Jeff, according to a Dec/78 RMC article, the old two-panel
consolidated stencils contained the following info, somewhat dependent on car
and bearing type:
first/left/top panel:
BLT, built date
RCD, if reconditioned
INSP, last inspection
second panel:
COTS, clean, oil, test and stencil
RPKD, for plain journal repacked date, or LUB for roller bearings
IDT, in-date test for airbrakes
While I don't have an up-close photo of the stencil block, photos of CN
cabooses and CP vans in 1978 show both with the two-panel block. As late as
1986, both one- and two-panel blocks are in use.

Would anyone know what type of information would be found on the consolidated
stencil block?
Specifically I’m wondering what type of information would be found on a
70’s era caboose. Would anyone have that type of information or a good
photo of the panel for one of the wide vision cabooses?
