Thank you Andrew, for the full explanation.
Model Railways can be such an interesting hobby when you take the time to dig
deeper into the facts and figures from the past.
Nice to see that you are doing that.

Hi David,
My specific interest in the overnight pool trains is simple: I want to model
those trains. In particular, I want to model the Ottawa-Toronto overnight
trains that carried a Glen car between 1954 and 1958.
Thanks to the consist lists that Fred Shannon recorded for trains arriving at
Vancouver in the spring and summer of 1955, I know what Glen sleepers
appeared on the Dominion and the Mountaineer during that period. In fact, 20
of 23 Glen sleepers on the roster made it to Vancouver between April and
August, 1955. Only three Glens (Glenboro, Glen Gordon and Glen Bow) were not
recorded by Fred Shannon as appearing on either the Dominion or the
Mountaineer.
The Glens were not shown in the April 24, 1955 Assignment of Space Circular
as a regular assignment on the Dominion, only on the Mountaineer between St.
Paul, MN and Vancouver, and on pool trains 24 and 33 between Toronto and
Ottawa. Glens did still show up on the Dominion After April 5, 1955, but only
very occasionally.
So I'm less interested in photos of the cars for the cars themselves than I
am for the information they contain about where and when they were
photographed, because it helps fill out the picture about how the cars were
assigned.
Regards,
Andrew
