I know that people like Newt Rossiter had information on locomotive
assignments and I'm sure someone "out there" will be able to tell you
where those 1200s were for at least some time periods.
A question, however: the assignment would probably be North Bay or
Mactier, given that those were the division points, which Sudbury
wasn't. Even though there were locomotives like yard switchers,
certainly a number of 2-8-0s and possibly a few 2-8-2s that worked in
and through Sudbury for much of their service life, their actual
assignment insofar as where they were maintained may not have been here.

Hi all,
Does anyone know which G-5 steam locomotives were assigned to the
Sudbury
area in 1957-1958.
Or, looking at it another way, does anyone know where the following
CPR G-5
steam locomotives were assigned:
1219
1221
1225
1257
1261
1267
Actually, there is a photo of 1261 in Dale Wilson's "Abbey to Zorra"
which
was taken close to Sudbury in 1948. Would it still be in the Sudbury
area in
1957-1958.
I'm asking because I have just finished painting a CPR G5 and would
like to
select a number that would correspond to a locomotive in the Sudbury
area in
1957-1958.
Thanks,
Mike
