Sorry, I misspoke. There were 7.

Which six? An earlier report listed seven: 5900, 5901, 5903, 5905, 5906,
5907 and 5908 but I think this is based on locomotives known to have running
board skirting rather than specifically those in passenger colours. Doug.
The photo is dated 1945. There were 6 T1a's assigned passenger colours
from 1936 and until the T1c's were delivered. On Monday, June 15, 2015

Prior to the adoption of Tuscan red panels, passenger engines only had gold

The K1a were not in passenger colours however, until after the introduction of
the semi-streamlined/streamlined locomotives in the 1930's. Numerous photos
taken when they were new and in the 1930's show this. There were a number of
G3a-d engines painted passenger colours and the K1a too. Hello Doug & cpsig
group, This is a question that keeps cropping up from time to time. I have
a lot of photos taken in BC in the 1930s that clearly show many of the
Vancouver assigned 2700 series Pacifics were painted with red panels on the
tender, and were used in regular passenger service, not just special occasions.
The two P1n Mikado's that had red panels were painted up for CP president
Neal's special train in 1947. The 5209 handled his train from Nelson to
Penticton, and the 5211 from Penticton to Vancouver. The 5209 was restored to
normal livery immediately after the trip, but 5211 retained the red panels into
the early 1950s. The other notable BC engine to receive these panels was D10
#962, which handled his train in the Okanagan. Also of interest is the
fact that a couple of G5 class 1200s handled his train as well, and received
similar livery. The 1209 from ???? to Lethbridge, AB, and 1206 from Lethbridge
to Nelson, BC. Ray Matthews #yiv8151168456 #yiv8151168456 --
