Leading candidate for "ugliest caboose in Canada" must be No. 437424, one of a
fleet of 50 such units built by the CPR's Angus Shops in 1954. "Caboose Life on
Company lines has taken on a new look," crowed the CPR Spanner, "with the
accent on stepped-up efficiency, utility, comfort and a good measure of glamour
as well." Among the features: all-steel construction, "semi-streamlined"
center cupola, "and even a home-size icebox." At least one of them has
survived.
There are a variety of shapes of these cabooses in this book. There are three
photo's with the cupolas on, what seems to be baggage cars... they named them
Combooses.
In HO scale, usually Bachmann had these kinds of cabooses included in their
sets. Except that for most of them, they were on one of the ends.
Another quick conversion for HO are the MDC kits with side-doors. I know, you
want "N-Scale."
You may want to check stock for the Pennsy-type of cabooses.
