Now that CP has placed a priority on the operation of trains 428 and 429,
there is some predictability in catching them within a prescribed window.
It
is a sliding window, albeit, in that longer trains towards the end of the
week do create delays.

Earlier this week, 429 was getting into St. Paul shortly after noon and
generally west of Minneapolis shortly after 1400.  Today's serial arrived
St.
Paul at 1405, with GEs 9596 and 9584 leading a pure hotshot, with 25 racks
on
the point, followed by 23 cars of intermodal.  The train appeared longer
than
normal, in that ten of the 23 loads of intermodal business were five
coupled
cars.  His Shoreham pickup consisted of seven cars (four pigs and three
containers), so he had a robust 55 cars out of Minneapolis at 1600,
straight
up.
