While thumbing my way through a book I have, I noticed that CPR used
both Script & or block lettering on the Maroon F units.
Is there a way to determine when & why they used either or?
Just curious

Script was first used on diesels in 1963. GP35,SD40,C424.C630 got
script but not block. Not all older unites were repainted into that
scheme (no trainmasters for instance). Multimark started in 1967- 4
years later. Repaints were nearly every 10 years by that time so you
would see all three in a consist for a while.
