1261 shows up in train registers from Ottawa Union Station in 1957, pulling
pool trains 559-560. It was either an Ottawa engine or possibly a Smiths
Falls engine at this time.
Bruce Chapman has locomotive dispatch books for Ottawa West from 1957
and 1958 and ought to be able to fill in details about whether any of the
other G5s on your list were assigned there. Sounds like 1259 would be a
safe choice for Sudbury though.

Andrew

Hi all,
Does anyone know which G-5 steam locomotives were assigned to the
area in 1957-1958.CPR G-5
Or, looking at it another way, does anyone know where the following
steam locomotives were assigned:which
1219
1221
1225
1257
1261
1267
Actually, there is a photo of 1261 in Dale Wilson's "Abbey to Zorra"
was taken close to Sudbury in 1948. Would it still be in the Sudburyarea in
1957-1958.like to
I'm asking because I have just finished painting a CPR G5 and would
select a number that would correspond to a locomotive in the Sudburyarea in
1957-1958.
