I can't remember which newsgroup had the discussion about the 8906 in White
River and whether or not it was in service or going for scrap.
Well another photo has surfaced, taken on the same day as the others. It shows
8906 coupled to a B&M caboose and they are on a yard track by themselves. The
rear headlight of 8906 is on and there is an engineer in the cab and the cab
window is open and the engineer's arm is on the arm rest. The background to
this photo is the same as the background in the other photos but the 8906 and
caboose are on a different track.
I think this proves once and for all that the locomotive was in service when
these photos were taken and was not en-route to the scrappers as several have
suggested.
