Subject: [cpcc-committee] FW: Queens Links Play area Improvements
Good afternoon Pauline,
Thank you for forwarding along the included update, as well as the other
incoming communications and correspondence.
It is excellent to see that the play area will be receiving a refurbishment, as
a place that is much loved and holds memories for many from their time living
in or visiting Aberdeen, but has been in need of refurbishment for some time.
Alongside other initiatives - resolving the perennial stalemate with (although
still a small handful, compared to all in the area) food vendors, upgraded
safety features and life-ring stations along the beach, consideration of
renewable energy charging points, etc - hopefully represents that the beach and
boulevard areas of the community are receiving much needed attention after many
years of advocacy.
I'd like to see much more, building on this momentum, of raising the profile,
addressing issues, and opportunities for improvement in our shared Castlehill &
Pittodrie Community.
The City Centre is of course important to all the city, and is to be enjoyed by
all the city, and while it is often the nearby areas that fall just outside of
the 'City Centre' Catchment Zone that have been overlooked, this again
hopefully marks the beginnings of a change in thinking.
There is much more for us to, issues to resolve and improvements to have in
place but most definitely signs of progress over this recent period.
Thank you all.
Sincerely,
Jonathan

Dear Pauline,
Please find below/attached an update that I have received about the play area
at Queens Links.
I thought this may be of interest to the community council (if you haven’t
already received the update directly).

Dear Councillor Hutchison
This is to inform you that the Service will commence improvement works at the
Queens Links Play Area during December . The initial works are to remove the
old concrete paddling pools, Train and ship which will include grading and
seeding works.
Following on from this the Kompan climbing unit is to be removed in early
January along with improvements to the sand area in this location. A new unit
is to be installed towards the end of January or early February depending on
the weather.
I have attached a copy of an image of the replacement unit.
Hope fully this will enable you to alleviate any of your constituents concerns.
Regards….Ian
