Good evening everyone,
Following the evolving information, advice and guidance that is being issued
and updated from UK Government Scottish Government, I believe at this stage it
is most appropriate in order to prioritise the health and wellbeing of members
and our communities to postpone meetings of the Community Council until we have
confirmation that is is safe to resume.
This is based on the most recent updates, that while attendance to some key
public service sectors will continue to be essential for at least some time to
come, there is advice to postpone any additional meetings and attendance to
office spaces when and where not absolutely essential.
This will present a challenge to how our Community Council and communities are
able to keep in contact with each other.
As the Community Council, we can share and distribute officially verified
information if helpful, as and when received from Government, Council or
Emergency Services sources - however, it will also be important for any
Community Councils and connected Resilience Groups etc to maintain lines of
communication with their community and with public and emergency services.
During the week or two past we have been in contact with City Council Officers
on utilising a 'Digital Infrastructure' such as Websites, Social Media
(Facebook, Twitter), E-Mail, Telephone etc as well as magazines and leaflets,
etc
This was initially for supporting consultation and engagement with the Local
Development Plan, however could - if required, if helpful and appropriate also
be utilised for sharing of information, such as the recent 'Age Scotland Tips'
for supporting older aged residents.
-
I again recommend that we will be postponing meetings of Castlehill & Pittodrie
Community Council until these meetings are safe to resume, but we will be
keeping contact with each other throughout this period, remotely if needed, and
with the most vulnerable where possible.
I am currently planning to make this announcement by the end of this week, and
so welcome to share any thoughts, suggestions or recommendations you would like
to include by then.
Please also in the meantime, if you are in search of information, encounter any
challenges or know of any vulnerable or at-risk neighbours and residents who
could benefit from support, do let us know as although not equipped to provide
necessarily this support, we can provide an effective sign-posting role where
needed.
Thank you all, and with very best wishes for your health and wellbeing.
Sincerely,
Jonathan
