Good evening everyone,
Each year, the Community Council gratefully receives an Annual Grant from
Aberdeen City Council, to the amount of around £1100-1400 based on the amount
of people who reside within the boundary area.
Each year, the Community Council also usually allocates 3 - 4 Donations to
Charities, Community Groups and Initiatives that are either active within the
area, or provide a service accessible to and benefiting members of the
community in the constituency.
The Community Council currently has:
* £340 allocated toward the Community Garden Project
* £500 held on behalf of the Community Garden, awarded by ACC
Any amount of funding remaining which are either unspent or unallocated at the
end of the calendar year are deducted from the next year's grant.
Annual Donations
I would therefore like to ask all members of the Community Council to consider
local charities, community groups, projects and initiatives to which we can
consider making a donation this year.
Suggestions
At previous meetings, there has been recommended the newly established
charity, MISS (Misscarriage Information and Support Service) which draws in
members and offers support to people throughout Aberdeen and N-E, and are
considering hosting a Drop-In / Awareness Raising in Castlehill and Pittodrie
area.
There was also recent news that they were subjected to cyber-crime and lost
almost £900 to hackers and criminals, and so could be timely for us to consider
a small donation in time for the festive season to make a small donation if
possible.
There has also been discussion of CFINE, which although again based in City
Centre / Torry, provides services to many residents in the area of Catlehill &
Pittodrie who attend the Food Bank, Fareshare to community outlets, etc
Further suggestions include:
* Salvation Army (SA also received a donation late last / early this year)
* Hanover Street Community Centre and / or Community Groups who operate
there
Please do get in touch as soon as possible to share your suggestions with us,
as we will have to ensure that any potential recipients are eligible to receive
donations with the 'Community Council' and 'Public Spend' Guidelines.
Thank you all, and looking forward to hearing your suggestions in time for
November's meeting.
Sincerely,
Jonathan
