Scott, we recently made the transition from the now-deprecated AD integration
to Azure AD for our Axcess authentication. You're correct that their
documentation is not all that useful.
The high-level overview is: a pilot Federation Services configuration is
enabled within Axcess's Firm settings, in concert with a SAML setup within an
Azure AD Enterprise Application. The pilot config within Axcess allows you to
verify proper configuration and test the process with a subset of your Axcess
users before enabling Federation Services for the entire firm.
The process is fairly straightforward, but I'd recommend working with CCH to
ensure that it goes smoothly. We wound up working with one of their team leads
who is very familiar with these transitions. That was extremely helpful.
If you have further questions feel free to give me a call.

Subject: [CPAGeeks] Axcess and Azure AD
We have been using ADFS with Axcess, and would like to transition to Azure AD
for SSO. CCH has an article on the setting but it appears to be flawed and they
have been no help. Does anyone have this working and if so would you mind
sharing how you managed it?
